It is really important to read an article like this and see the impact on art and life in general over a period of time. With the current state of the world in terms of technology bitcoin, nfts and online virtual life the idea of having a five thousand and eight hundred dollar gif doesn't seem crazy at all. If anything it would be considered extremely low in today's online society. Especially with the way that digital art has taken over the world this article isn't really that surprising, I could see however someone ripping off a balloon animal then continuing to turn it digital and sell it is really funny. Considering how technologically driven we are in our everyday life digital art seems as it is the most common form of art that is seen daily. With spending most of my time on social media, seeing digital art everyday is something that I am always expecting. Especially because I am an architecture major seeing many forms of digital art both for renderings, diagrams, and inspiration is a constant. In regards to this article I think that when it was written in 2014 many people could see this as very controversial, something people can see but can't own or touch. It must have been a crazy idea that this short lived animation could cost so much money. It is crazy to look back a mere seven years and see how odd this must have seemed then when now we have museums that are specific for digital art, currency, and power that is based off of digital art.
